Tuheitia Kia Angitu wiri matariki festival, l’evento neozelandese filmato da Inadoga
Tūwhitia Kia Angitu, known as Angitu for short is an emerging group of young performers from throughout Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). They take their name from a whakataukī (proverb) by Ahorangi Te Wharehuia Milroy: “Tūwhitia te hopo, mairangatia te angitu”, “Relinquish all fear and ascend to success”. The wiri is a side to side movement of the whole hand and is not a wriggling of the fingers. Different tribal groups have different styles of wiri. The wiri is said to represent the world around us, from the shimmering of the waters of a bright sunny day, to the heat waves rising from the ground to the wind rustling the leaves of the trees.
Tūwhitia Kia Angitu, noto come Angitu, è un gruppo emergente di giovani artisti provenienti da tutta Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). Prendono il nome da un whakataukī (proverbio) di Ahorangi Te Wharehuia Milroy: “Tūwhitia te hopo, mairangatia te angitu”, “Lascia ogni paura e sali al successo”. Il wiri è un movimento laterale dell’intera mano e non è un dimenarsi delle dita. Diversi gruppi tribali hanno stili diversi di wiri. Si dice che il wiri rappresenti il mondo che ci circonda, dallo scintillio delle acque di una luminosa giornata di sole, alle ondate di calore che si alzano dal suolo al vento che fruscia le foglie degli alberi.
